i read that article and i thought a while about it..
when parents tighten their reins on us, we tend to feel that they breathe down our necks.
when parents entrust us with the right to freedom, we tend to think that they dont care enough..
my mum gives me a fair share of both.. she gives me adequate freedom but sometimes i ask for more.. when i get myself into deep sh!t, no one is responsible, so i am to solve my own mess.. its lonely when this happens for sure but i guess it had made me a better person in a way or another because i answer for my own actions…
maybe without realising, it has worked that way for you too? =)
you get to choose your own route and if you screw it up, you answer for it like a man (for my case, woman).. i think its something very healthy to do=)
i think i can understand your worry but i am sure my mum cares.. its just that she wants you to know that you are good enough to decide for yourself, the life you want to lead.. and with this ability, i believe you will move on very far in life..
